What Now: Alternative Routes to Secondary Education meeting

Do you want to teach but aren’t sure about completing the undergraduate program at Illinois? There could be many reasons that you may find it difficult to complete the undergraduate program in teacher certification this year and we are here to inform you of alternative ways that you can still achieve teacher certification!

Please join us for an informational meeting to discuss alternative routes to teacher certification.  We will be joined by a presenter from the Master’s with certification program at Illinois and a speaker from Teach for America.  This event is open to all students interested in teaching at the secondary, elementary, early childhood and special education levels.  Whether you were denied admission, waitlisted, came to the decision too late, are unsure about whether to pursue teaching as an undergraduate, or any other reason, you are welcome to attend this meeting!

Summer Internship Class

Do you have a career-related internship this summer? Consider enrolling in ENG 451, an online mentored course for students with career-related internships that focuses on development of interpersonal and professional skills as well as basic business concepts.  The course is worth 2 hours of credit and takes place entirely online so it is available to students who are out of town while interning. Many students in the past have registered for ENG 451 if their internship requires them to be enrolled in a course while they are interning. Fun Flights over Champaign

Join the Institute for Aviation for a Fun Flight over the Champaign-Urbana area! The thirty minute flights will feature a scenic view of the Champaign-Urbana area and will be available from 9am – 3pm on Saturday and Sunday, April 21-22. Anyone with an interest in aviation or just an interest in a spectacular view is encouraged to sign up!

The Institute of Aviation Flying Team will be holding a pancake breakfast Sunday morning, so come out and enjoy an airplane ride and breakfast! Flights will cost $65.00 per half hour. Payments can be made by either cash or check.  Please make checks out to the “Institute of Aviation”.

The airplanes have enough room for the pilot and two passengers. To register click on the “registration” link and fill in all applicable fields. Create a username and password so that you may log back in to check your flight time. Guests should be registered by name in the appropriate area.

All participants will be required to fill out and sign a consent form. If you are under 18 years of age, a parent or legal guardian will be required to sign. If you have any questions, please contact Rita Black at rrblack@illinois.edu or 217-244-8606.
